Cathie Colless is an Australian farmer and author who runs a property at Come-By-Chance, east of Walgett NSW, with her husband and family.

She was compelled to write Diamonds in the Dust as a tribute to the women of rural and remote communities, ‘Australia’s unrecognised assets’.

The 10 women Cathie interviewed for this book are extraordinary because they are ordinary, selected not for their ’specialness’ but for their representativeness of women in isolated communities throughout Australia.

Every town, village and settlement in the country has their Belindas, Jills and Margarets.

Cathie is also the co-author of Yum Yum . . . Where Does It Come From?, a children’s book that draws a direct connection between the farm and the food on our plates.
